Project Objectives Quantifiable Deliverables
To conserve the rarest of rare perennial tuberous herb Eremostachys superba, in Siwalik and lower Mussoorie hills. Conservation of dying species (E. superba, rarest species of India), will be achieved at selected sites.
For assured long-term conservation one has to work out strategies that can increase genetic diversity. Mass propagation of the species.
Transplantation of more than one thousand young plants of E. superba in two important localities at the base of lower Mussoorie hills (Western Himalayas). Transplantation to new sites
To transplantation and the parent populations in the field to save the dying species.
