Nodal and Serving hub with G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment & Sustainable Development

Credentials of the Project: IERP/NMHS/06

Project ID: IERP/NMHS/06
Title: A study on some antioxidant and antimicrobial activity bearing aromatic and medicinal plants of North-West Himalaya: there active constituents, activity and impact of environmental factors on their active constituents.
Batch/ Financial Year: 2015-16
Total Grant: Rs. 12,99,500 (Twelve lakh ninety nine thousand five hundred only)

Project Objectives Quantifiable Deliverables
Survey and collection of unexplored commercially important biologically active aromatic and medicinal plant and Isolation and structure determination of new and novel compounds with the help of UV, IR, MS, NMR (1H NMR, 13C NMR). Identification of active constituents in selected medicinal plant species.
Assessing biological activity, viz. Antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal etc. of the plant extract as a whole and of the compounds separated from its extracts. Experimental cultivation of some medicinal and commercially important plant species.
Cultivation of some rare and economically important species in cultivation centre to determine the effect of environmental factors on their oil yield and chemical constituents. Develop guideline in the development and establishment of small scale industries based on medicinal and aromatic plants in rural areas.
Recommendations for germplasm conservation of elite medicinal plants.
