Title: Sustainable management of land through improved Albizia procera plants in mid Himalayan region.

Project Objectives Quantifiable Deliverables
Survey, collection of superior seeds, cuttings and soils of Albizia procera from their natural distributional range and their characterization. Selection of seed source of Albizia for tree improvement programme.
Selection and testing of suitable strains of Rhizobia for Albizia procera. Identification of seed and plant trait markers for selection of superior N2 fixing trees.
Development of bioinoculant for enhanced growth and survival for out planting of seedling. Development of Bio inoculants using improved plant growth promoting rhizobacteria for improvement of the N2 fixing ability of trees to improve the status of barren lands.
Development of markers for selection of trees at nursery stage for nitrogen fixing ability Biocontrol efficacy (bio fertilizer) (single culture based or in form of consortium) for commercial application.
Testing of soil for nutrients (N,P,K) before and after plantation of the plants in the field. Conserve and enrich the microbial diversity from natural distributional rage of the Albizia.
Conservation of diverse native microflora associated with the plus tress for future application.
