Project Objectives Quantifiable Deliverables
To survey and enumerate all the edible and medicinal species of mushrooms in the Uttarakhand Himalaya. Field data base on availability of Agaricus, Auricularia, Ganoderma, Grifola, Morchella, Ophiocordyceps, Pleurotus, and other wild edible and medicinal mushrooms from Uttarakhand Himalaya.
To describe and identify each taxon on the basis of detailed macroscopic and microscopic observations (and possibly from DNA sequences). Recommendations for mass cultivation and commercial utilization of selected species.
To identify the species that enters into mycorrhizal associations with economically important trees.

a. To recommend suitable edible and medicinal taxa for commercial exploitation.
