Project Objectives Quantifiable Deliverables
Selection of insect pest resistant trees. Genetically improved planting stock of Punica granatum.
Selection of genotypes based on seed aril colour (Dark red and brick red) and taste (sourness and sweetness). Rehabilitation of degraded wastelands/ community lands through participatory approach. Raised income avenues of rural masses through improved plantations.
Genotypic selection based on of the aril of the seed. Ecological restoration of degraded wastelands/farmlands. Sustained livelihood of rural resource farmers.
Propagation of selected genetic material through asexual and sexual methods.
Plantation trials of selected genotypes under Mid-Hill agro-climatic conditions.
