Project Brief Description: Tripura is an eastern Himalayan State, which is located in the most vulnerable earthquake prone Zone-V. Keeping the fact of multi disaster prone, skill up-gradation and capacity building of hill communities on low-cost bamboo preservation technologies will be upgraded for promotion of earthquake resilient housings through this project. It will also linkage with livelihood promotion for tribal and rural communities of both west and north Tripura. In addition, awareness programs along with capacity building will be provided to the local stakeholders like related departments, SHGs, NGOs, media, policy-makers of the region about the livelihood-environment convergent models and advance technology for bomboo treatment. The model developed under the project will also be popularized further through publications, demonstration and media publicity. The project falls in the Broad Thematic Groups (BTGs ��Awareness and Capacity Building� under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS). Total six (6) Bomboo houses will be constructed and demonstrated and training will be also provided to 500 people on low-cost bomboo preservation technologies.
