The Harnessing Green Energy theme under the Him-CONNECT initiative focused on sustainable and renewable energy solutions suitable for the unique environmental conditions of the Himalayan region. Researchers and innovators presented technologies designed to improve energy efficiency, promote clean energy adoption, and support environmentally responsible development in remote mountain communities.
The presentations highlighted innovative applications of solar energy and sustainable water treatment systems that can contribute to improving quality of life while reducing environmental impact in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).
These valuable contributions were made possible through the participation of leading institutions including the Himalayan Research Group (HRG), Shimla and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. Their work reflects the growing role of scientific innovation in developing sustainable and climate-resilient energy solutions for the Himalayan region.
The Him-CONNECT initiative, organized under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India and facilitated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) during WSDS 2026, aims to connect Himalayan innovations with start-ups and industry, helping bridge the gap between research laboratories and practical market solutions.
