The Dairying Innovations theme under the Him-CONNECT initiative focused on technological advancements and scientific interventions aimed at strengthening traditional dairy practices in the Himalayan region. Experts highlighted innovative approaches to improve milk processing, enhance product quality, and support sustainable livelihoods for local communities dependent on livestock and dairy-based enterprises.
The presentations showcased how modern technologies and research-based interventions can enhance traditional dairy products, improve efficiency in processing systems, and promote value-added dairy products across the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR).
These contributions were made possible through collaboration with leading academic institutions including Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal and the University of Kashmir. Their research supports innovation in traditional dairy processing systems while preserving indigenous knowledge and promoting sustainable rural development in the Himalayan ecosystem.
The Him-CONNECT initiative, organized under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India and facilitated by The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) during WSDS 2026, aims to connect Himalayan innovations with start-ups and industry, bridging the gap between laboratory research and real-world applications.
