Award

Nachan Forest Division got Environment leadership award 2021-22 for developing Biodiversity Park under NMHS funded project at Bhullah, HP

Research Highlights:

Underutilized plant resources as frontline foods for better health
Nutrigenomic studies unravel the potential of underutilized crops to augment human health and enhance nutritional profile of underutilized crops to overcome diet-related disorders.

Omics-based techniques to improve Saffron quality
Omics-based novel technologies aid in discovering new genes and understanding of biological pathways towards developing a genome engineered Saffron Crocus sp. that can yield better quality saffron with high productivity.

Climate change responses to treeline in the Indian Himalaya
Pre-monsoon drought is of critical importance to predict timberline response to climate change, as tree ring width is found to be negatively correlated with pre-monsoon temperature.

Macro-lichen species diversity patterns along the elevation gradients across the Himalayan Arc
Across the Himalayan longitudinal arc, the total β-diversity and its turnover component increased from Kashmir to Sikkim. Species sorting and abiotic factors are likely the main determinants of the lichen species turnover with elevation

Efforts towards conservation and management of Himalayan Monal
Occupancy and abundance of Monal (Lophophorus impejanus) was estimated in non-protected areas using camera traps and sign surveys to identify areas for conservation and management prioritization in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand.
