Research Highlights


Synthesised and characterised Graphene-based materials from tyre and plastic. – Implemented by Kumaon University, Nainital, Uttarakhand

Developed the methodology for using “Engineering Muck” as construction material; conducted the laboratory testing for the varying the percentage for cement-treated base (CTB) mix design; Designed the “Pavement Design consisting CTB Layer”, using IITPAVE software. – Implemented by CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), New Delhi

Developed and demonstrated a Retrofitting Model of a Trombe Wall (Heat Gain Technique) at Panchayat Bhavan of Sosa Village, Dharchula Block, Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. Alongside, Development of a Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) (Design Guidelines & Best Practices) for Passive Solar Heated Buildings (PSHB) in Ladakh and Uttarakhand regions

Two Patents have been filed on:
(i) Intelligent Rainfall Intensity Measurement System and Method; and (ii) Smart Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) Device Enabling Continuous Monitoring of Remote Location and Method; – Implemented by CSIR-Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, Uttarakhand

Establishment of an Open Source Digital Knowledge Centre viz, “Centre for Education on Vernacular Architecture (CEVA)”, implemented by IIT-Ropar by documenting and uploading online on CEVA

Development of a Technology Prototype for “Mechanization of Indigenous Yak (Bos grunniens) Milk Cottage Cheese (Hard Churpi) Manufacturing Process”, using CARTIA V5R20.

Vibrant Village Programme

VIBRANT VILLAGES PROGRAMME (VVP) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme announced in the Union Budget 2022 envisages coverage of border villages on Northern Border having sparse population, limited connectivity and infrastructure. It was launched by the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, at Kibithoo – a remote village, near the India-Tibet border on 10th April 2023.

The Indian Himalayan Region is spread across 13 Indian States/Union Territories (namely Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam and West Bengal), stretching across 2500 km.
