Project Brief Description: Geologically, the state of Manipur has hilly terrains of rich biodiversity at different elevation with susceptible to seismic activity, soil erosion, frequent landslides and denudation. It is also one of the climate change vulnerable Eastern Himalayan state at extreme north-eastern region of India. During the last few years, the state had experienced evidence of climate variable factors like erratic rainfall with high intensity, frequent flood and landslides etc. which directly impacts on, livelihood, agriculture and allied sectors. Moreover, there are changes in the rainfall patterns so called shifting of rainy period. Recently, the state had also witnessed 3- 4 times of flood in pre-monsoon which devastated many agricultural fields causing loss of economy, food security as well as livelihood in the state. Again, this year, a drought like situation during crop season was occurred which resulted lost in agricultural production. On the other hand, increase of evaporation leads to drying up of stream heads and less underground recharge resulting to scarcity of water, drying up of water reservoirs / dams both in hill and valley. About 30% of stream heads at all the catchment has been reported as seasonal during the last 42 years (1974-2016). Shifting of village due to non-availability of water is main concerned in the hill area. Looking forward to the importance of regional climate change vulnerability, an assessment of the vulnerability on natural ecosystem, bio-physical and socio-economic systems of the state of Manipur at village level is required. This assessment has to be given priority at village level for adaptation planning, in particular for ecologically fragile and environmentally degraded zones, subject to socio-economic pressures. The purpose of this project is to review and stock taking of the targeted activities under previous SAPCC by aligning strategies under NDC and SDG with a target for 2030. The scope for revision exercise of the existing SAPCC is of 4 (four) dimension with 3 (three) principles i.e. State circumstances, progress and state contribution to INDC, climate change action plan & strategies and State Climate Policy.
Beneficiaries/ Stakeholders:

The key beneficiaries of the project will be State Government in preparation of Climate Actions and Strategies. Moreover, direct befits to the policy framing by using single window climate change information at district level
