SGP Brief Description:

Seeing the importance of spiritual history of Chaurasi Kutia government wrote a letter no. 686/x-2-2014-7(28)/2009 dated 26-02-2014 intending to open the Chaurasi Kutia for the public/tourists. In accordance with the letter Rajaji park submitted the proposal to State Wild Life Board vide letter no. 1968/12-1 dated 12-03-2015. This proposal was passed by Board in its meeting 15-04-2015 chaired by the Hon Chief Minister, Uttarakhand State. As per NTCA guidelines about 20% of the core area of a Tiger Reserve can be opened for tourism activities. At present only 18.87% core area of Rajaji Tiger Reserve has been opened for tourism, this includes Asarori, Motichur, Chilla, Ranipur, Mohand, MansaDevi, Neelkanth and Chaurasi Kutiya Ashram premises. So still scope of tourism activities is available In RTR. Management of Rajaji National Park 2012-13 to 2021-22 has clearly described the importance of tourism activities in park and has recommended the future execution of tourism plans. In chapter 12 of Management plan various datas show the development of tourism activities till 2010-11. In last six year this these figure have risen sharply. After creation of Tiger Reserve tiger conservation plan is under progress in the draft copy tiger conservation plan Chaurasi Kutiya is included for Eco-tourism activities.
