10th Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Workshop
The 10th Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Workshop of the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) was held
during 29-30 July 2026 in hybrid mode at the NMHS Project Management Unit (PMU), G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment (GBPNIHE).
The inaugural session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. I.D. Bhatt, Director, GBPNIHE. Ms. Nameeta Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), was invited as Chief Guest, and Dr. Susan George,
Scientist 'K', Director CS-I Mountain Division, as the Special Guest.
Er. M. S. Lodhi, Scientist 'F' and Nodal Officer, NMHS, presented the workshop brief, highlighting the progress of the Mission, major
achievements, and the objectives of the 10th Monitoring & Evaluation Workshop.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for reviewing the progress and outcomes of NMHS-supported projects and for fostering constructive scientific deliberations. A total of 38 projects spanning the thematic areas Water Resource Management, Handling of Waste, Biodiversity Conservation and Management, Livelihood Options and Employment Generation, Infrastructure Development, and Physical Connectivity were presented before the Monitoring & Evaluation Panel. The deliberations and recommendations of the expert panel are expected to further strengthen the quality,
relevance, and impact of NMHS-supported research and its contribution towards sustainable development of the Indian Himalayan Region.
