| Project Brief Description: | Ladakh being an area where the health of its community and biodiversity is directly dependent on the limited resource availability, climate change impacts are magnified and become evidently visible with the slightest change in the ecosystem. Unfortunately, such changes, along with the combined effect of the rapid growth of tourism in Ladakh over the past decade have not been well documented, owing to unsustainable development patterns in the region. It is in this observation that Ladakh has exigently needed approaches for environmental monitoring and the development of a model for growth that incorporates a holistic and sustainable approach to development, where the conservation of Ladakh•s fragile environment is included in developmental planning and strategies and interventions for mainstreaming sustainability needs to be put in place | ||||
| Beneficiaries/ Stakeholders: | • At the local level: Local communities at the target region of Leh-Ladakh. • At the regional level: Health professionals, planners, municipal engineers, emergency responders, and resource managers.
