Project Brief Description: |
The aim of this project to develop an effective and scalable E-waste management value
chain in the himalayas. For this project, we have chosen to work in Dehradun and
Rudraprayag disctricts of Uttarakhand. To achieve our goals and project objectives, we have divided our into well defined activities which are as follows: • Candidate profiling and selection. • Training. • Set-up of E-waste management facility. • Public awareness and set-up of smaller e-waste management centers. • Socio-economic impact study. |

Beneficiaries/ Stakeholders: | Participating in this project will be of value to ITI diploma holders, dropouts, small electrical/electronic goods traders, scavengers and recyclers. Through this project we aim to train (approx.) 300 participants in LED bulb repair, assembly, e-waste handling and required ewaste logistics. The awareness activities will target 60% of the district population of Dehradun and Rudraprayag. |

• Trained manpower for e-waste management. Approx. 100 skilled workers including 42 SC/ST participants. • Well equipped 7 block level E-waste repair and collection centers fully equipped for repair and manufacturing of energy-efficient lights such as LED bulbs, tube lights, decorative lamps, solar energy powered devices, battery handling and mobile phone repair. • Well equipped 2 district level E-waste Handling centers in 2 districts. • Software package to connect all of these centers with larger E-waste buyers (registered with GoI) and facilitate logistics planning. • Folk media campaigns for action-oriented awareness and follow-ups. Awareness material, media campaign and other resources in local languages to reach out to 60% district population of both the districts through outreach programs. • A replicable model for E waste management, which can be scaled-up to other areas. |
