Project Brief Description: | Access to electricity is now an afterthought in most parts of the world, so it may come as a surprise to learn that 16% of the world's population - an estimated 1.2 billion people are still living without this basic necessity. Lack of access to electricity, or "energy poverty", is the ultimate economic hindrance as it prevents people from participating in the modern economy. Providing such access can advance the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals of expanding the availability of clean water (through pumping) and increasing agricultural yields (through the use of machinery and irrigation). Improving the utilization of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) in microgrids will also address the grand challenge of reducing carbon emissions. The Global Microgrid Market is expected to reach USD 108.1 Billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 15.1% during the forecast period of 2023-2030. Villagers are not aware of available drinking water quality and they often drink the available water without prior treatment. Drinking untreated water could result in water borne diseases. Concept of rural micro grid will be educated choices about using and developing energy sources that significantly reduce the social and environmental impacts of our energy use and help to improve the people's social and economic life. | |||
Beneficiaries/ Stakeholders: | All the central and state agencies which work in the field of Renewable Energy Resources, Micro Grid and Smart Grid project development would be the key beneficiaries of the study. Government agencies such as Ministry of Renewable Energy (MNRE), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), Ministry of Power, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA), Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) , State Irrigation and Public Health Department, State Environment Department, Local Municipal Corporation, residents of project sites (more than 3539 direct beneficiaries) including SC, ST (more than 2120 direct beneficiaries) and women, Local NGOs, Academic and Research institutes of Jammu and Kashmir (UT) of the Indian Himalayan Region. |
