Project Brief Description: | Indo-Himalayan region have been grappling with natural calamities and associated life disruption. Transport infrastructure disruption and lack of accessibility to facilities have widespread impacts on the economic condition of citizen and states. If the officials and citizen have a priori information about the availability of transport infrastructure during adverse situations, the mobility needs of citizen be met and overall well-being could be improved. Towards the broad goal of improving mobility during adverse situations, the project develops a GIS-based network simulation tool that assess the vulnerability transport links to adverse situations and suggests the availability of road infrastructure given the need for travel. Broadly, the project also helps plan for evacuation during such situations. | |||
