Project Brief Description: The Rudrasagar lake of Tripura is degrading day by day due to siltation, weed infestation, encroachment, pollution, illegal fishing and hunting of migratory birds. In this context, aims of this project are: (i) to know the ecosystem services provided by the lake (ii) to restoration of ecosystem services through community participation for its sustainable management and conservation. To achieve the same, majors activities such as sediment sampling, water quality analysis, socio-economic survey and awareness & capacity building of local people will be carried out for sustainable management and conservation of the lake. The project compliments the Broad Thematic Groups (BTGs) � �Awareness and Capacity Building� under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS). The project will also organize various awareness programme for local communities about ecosystem services of Rudrasagar Lake.

A Compendium on Ecosystem Services provided by Rudrasagar Lake (including its available resources, water quality, biodiversity, carbon sequestration, etc.) Action Plan developed for conservation and restoration of Wetland Ecosystem Services by Community Involvement (Nos).
To promote optimum utilization of wetland ecosystem services and its sustainable management and conservation through restoration of wetland ecosystem services by community involvement. . 3 components (water quality, biodiversity , carbon sequestration) of Rudrasagar lake ecosystem will be assessed and reported Assessment Reports on Water Quality, Biodiversity and Carbon Sequestration (Nos.)
