Project Brief Description:

The poor migrants find it difficult to maintain both- their ancestral houses in the hills as well as their current city expenses. These abandoned ghost villages/ houses pose following socio cultural problems: • The law and order problem caused by empty houses
• Ecological imbalances due to wastage of built heritage
• Cultural loss of built heritage as the traditional architectural style of house construction, their layout and building material is lost.
• Loss of intangible culture as future generation lose their contact with their cultural context and roots.
• There is no return on investment and income from their ancestral property. The expenditure of the migrants of ´ghost villages´ in their newly adopted houses in cities increases considerably whereas their income from their ancestral property remains nil.
