•To investigate the species diversity of hill stream fish fauna found in the Manas Biosphere reserve, SonaiRupai WLS and Nameri National Park in the North Bank Landscape of River Brahmaputra on the foothills of Eastern Himalaya.

•Study of the habitat ecology of the hill stream fish fauna to design strategic conservation management of the micro habitats.

 

 

 

•Fish faunal Database for the Manas Biosphere reserve, SonaiRupai WLS and Nameri National Park in the North Bank Landscape of River Brahmaputra on the foothills of Eastern Himalaya.

• Development of conservation models for fish faunal diversity.

•Provide the fish Database to theNational Biodiversity Portal, India and State Biodiversity Portal of Assam.

• Conservation Plan for fish fauna.

HRA002 North Bank Landscape of Brahmaputra river

•To study and access the status of Galliformes and evaluate the effects of surrounding landscape fragments and habitat matrix.

•To identify and compare the natural habitat structures and surrounding landscape matrix for conservation implementations and mitigation measures of rare and threatened Galliformes.

•Initiation of conservation and awareness of Galliformes and to form strong conservation cadre in the Eastern Himalayan landscape.

•Database for rare, endemic and threatened Galliform species.

•Identification of most sensitive species and their critical habitats.

•Development of conservation models for Galliformes.

• A scientific documentation of small mammals distribution in foothills of Eastern Himalaya inside Manas National Park.

• To use photographic evidence of this elusive group of animals to argue for conservation of this threatened group of mammals in the North Bank Landscape inside Manas National Park.

• Identify the habitat associated threat and disturbance factor for the small mammals in their habita.t

• To find out the achievable conservation strategies of these small mammal in Manas National Park.

• Database on small mammal species found in the Manas National Park in the North Bank Landscape of River Brahmaputra.

• Develop the conservation strategies on the habitat ecology of the small mammals of the micro habitats.

• Dissemination of the project finding to government to effect modifications in proposed development projects in the landscape.

• Mapping the diversity and distribution of diurnal Raptors of the foothills of Eastern Himalayas on the North Bank Landscape.

• Understanding the Raptor community variations across different habitats in the region.

H-JRF003 Nameri National Park, SonaiRupai WLS and Chariduar Reserve Forest

• To investigate the species assemblages and diversity of fish fauna in the wetlands and streams of Eastern Himalayan foothill zones inside Nameri National Park, Sonai Rupai WLS and Chariduar Reserve Forest.

• To study and analyse the habitat characteristics of riparian zones of wetland habitat and its relationships of fish diversity.

• To study the ecology of fish fauna with special reference to turbidity, water PH, Chloride, D.O., Water temperature, Water depth, Water current and Wetland bed profile.

 

 

• Database on fish fauna diversity in the wetlands and streams of Eastern Himalayan foothill zones inside Nameri National Park, SonaiRupai WLS and Chariduar Reserve Forest.

• Develop the information on habitat characteristics of riparian zones of wetland habitat and its relationships of fish diversity.

• Development of conservation models for fish fauna diversity in the wetlands.

H-JRF004 Manas National Park

• To document an initial checklist of the Herpeto faunal diversity of the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas, their distribution and to annotate the list, wherever possible, with past documented information of the species.

• To document the physical deformities found in the Amphibians, due to rapid environmental alterations, along the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas.

• To conduct awareness campaign regarding co-existence of human and herpeto fauna, in the villages along the fringes of the foothills.

 

 

 

 

• Database on Herpeto faunal Diversity and distribution in the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya will be delivered.

• A database on physical deformities in Amphibians along the foothills of Eastern Himalaya due to environmental alterations.

• Awareness campaigns and popular talks among the local villagers and students residing in the nearby fringes regarding the co-existence of human and herpeto fauna.

• Provide the species diversity data of the herpeto-fauna on the National Biodiversity Portal, India and State Biodiversity Portal of Assam.

 

H-JRF005 Manas Biosphere Reserve

• To investigate the spider species diversity found in the Manas Biosphere Reserve in the North Bank Landscape of River Brahmaputra on the foothills of Eastern Himalaya.

• To investigate the habitat ecology of the spider with special reference to micro habitats in the study area.

• To study the conservation threats of the spider including natural and anthropogenic in the Manas Biosphere Reserve and also to find out solution for mitigation of these threats.

• Database on spider diversity found in the Manas Biosphere Reserve in the North Bank Landscape of River Brahmaputra on the foothills of Eastern Himalaya.

• Develop the strategic conservation model for spider species along with threats.

• Provide the spider diversity database to the National Biodiversity Portal, India and State Biodiversity Portal of Assam.
