H-JRF001 | Doyang river, Nagaland | • To systematically study and record ichthyo faunal biodiversity of selected river systems of North Eastern Himalayan region. • To assess conservation status of the fish species of selected river systems based on field surveys. • Habitat characterization of selected fish species of the river system. • To identify anthropogenic factors affecting ichthyo fauna of the river systems (if any) and to find out the mitigation measures (if required). |
• A database of fish species of the river ecosystem under study indicating their true conservation status and habitat with supporting photographs. • Identification of anthropogenic stress factors affecting ichthyo fauna of the river ecosystem (if any) and its possible mitigation measures (if required). • Development of conservation models for fish. • Conservation Plan for fish . |

Umtrew river in Meghlaya and Assam
•To study temporal and seasonal variation of the hydro-biological profile of the critical river systems and thereby to assess its environmental health. • To study River Ecosystem in the light of River Continuum Concept (RCC). • To study biodiversity of the River Ecosystems. • To identify anthropogenic factors affecting the River Ecosystem and to find out the mitigation measures. • To study effect of climate change on the River Ecosystems (if any) .
• First hand information on environmental health of the selected river will be generated which will act as an important baseline information for future climate change related studies. • An updated biodiversity status of the river ecosystem. • Information on trophic level structure of the river ecosystem. • Identification of anthropogenic stress factors affecting the river ecosystem (if any) and its possible mitigation measures.
